The Instant bag is a knitted bag reminiscent of classic French market baskets and cute crochet bags. The texture is super easy to knit and creates a strong fabric that retains its shape firmly after blocking.

The pattern includes options to knit the bag in two sizes. There are also two different versions of the same design. Version 1 is for a fully textured bag and version 2 combines a textured panel with two plain stockinette stitch panels.

Yarn

720 (800) m of
Ito Gima 8.5 (100% Cotton) 25 g 212 m / 231 yds. Samples were knit in colorway Ecru 26 (fully textured tote bag) and Cream 400 (texture panel and stockinette stitch).

You can use different colorways held together. The project is knit using a triple strand of yarn throughout.

Alternative yarn:

3 (3) skeins of Isager Japansk Bomuld

OR

2 (3) skeins of Papyrus by Kremke soul yarn.

The yarn I picked for this project is 100% cotton and very comfortable to knit. If picking a substitute make sure it’s a washable and easy-on-the-hands yarn for the project.

Needles

4 mm / US6 circular needle cable length of at least 60 cm 24”
3.75 mm / US5 circular needle cable length of at least 60 cm 24”

Gauge

30 sts x 39 rounds = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4” in pattern stitch in the round on gauge-sized needles after blocking.
